Stormy conditions abate as 1,500 homes left without power

Met Éireann says stormy conditions across the country are beginning to ease this morning.

Met Éireann says stormy conditions across the country are beginning to ease this morning.

Storm force winds and heavy rain caused blocked roads, power cuts and flooding in some parts.

Motorists are being urged to take care on the roads because of fallen trees.

There are no road closures as a result of the weather, but there is flooding reported in parts of Donegal, Limerick and Roscommon.

Some 1,500 homes are still without power following the stormy weather and the ESB has said it could be later this morning before it is able to restore services to homes in Galway and Clare.

Joan Blackburn from Met Éireann said the storm seems to have abated for now, although it will stay windy in the north of the country.
