Police are appealing for information after a 16-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted outside a Co Antrim public house.

Police are appealing for information after a 16-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted outside a Co Antrim public house.

The attack happened in Toomebridge at about 1.30am on Sunday.

A man approached the girl outside a bar on the Hillhead Road and punched her.

He took her to a nearby field where he carried out the assault.

Detective Inspector Frankie Taylor said: "This is a terrible ordeal for the young girl to suffer and I am asking the public to assist us with our inquiries."
