Bail for man charged in connection with €900K heroin find

A 33-year-old Dublin man has appeared in court today charged in connection with the seizure of heroin with an estimated street value of €900,000.

Keith Byrne (aged 33) with an address at Greenfort Crescent, Clondalkin has been granted bail.

A second man who was arrested has been released without charge.

Keith Byrne and another man were arrested as part of what gardaí describe as 'intelligence-led operations' targeting drug gangs in the Clondalkin and Ballyfermot area.

As part of the investigation, gardaí seized six kilos of heroin with an estimated street value of €900,000 at Castlebaggot, Aylmer Road, in Newcastle yesterday afternoon.

Det Garda Eoin Roche told the court that Byrne made no reply when charged at Clondalkin Garda station last night with possessing the drugs for sale and supply.

There were no objections to bail or legal aid, both of which were granted by Judge Anthony Halpin, who has put the case back until June 19 for DPP directions.

The other man arrested has been released without charge.
