The HSE is reiterating its call for people in at risk groups to get the flu vaccine.

Two people have died from flu in the past week, a man in the east and a woman in the west - one from the swine flu strain, the other from Influenza B.

Morethan 9,000 new flu cases were reported in the last seven days, the highest rate in 10 years.

Dr Kevin Kelleher from the HSE said additional doses of the vaccine were being distributed to GPs after the initial campaign began last year.
