Members of several Irish families are due to travel to Australia today following a car crash that claimed the life of a 20-year-old Irishman on Wednesday night.

Members of several Irish families are due to travel to Australia today following a car crash that claimed the life of a 20-year-old Irishman on Wednesday night.

Four more Irish people were also injured when the car they were travelling in crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

One of the injured, a 20-year-old girl, is understood to be in a critical condition.

The dead man, who was from Co Meath, had been on a year-long trip to Australia.
