Govt urged to reveal hospital reform plans

Opponents of the Hanly Report on hospital reform have called on the Government to reveal how it plans to implement the reforms before people cast their votes in next month’s local election.

Opponents of the Hanly Report on hospital reform have called on the Government to reveal how it plans to implement the reforms before people cast their votes in next month’s local election.

The Health Services Action Group claimed today that a senior health board official “spilled the beans” about the plans for the northern part of the country at a meeting of GPs in Dundalk this week.

Labour Party Senator Kathleen O’Meara, a spokesperson for the group, said the official signalled that hospital services would be downgraded in Navan, Cavan, Monaghan and Drogheda.

Ms O'Meara accused the Government of deliberately concealing this information until after the upcoming election.
