Marks & Spencer was given an unexpected boost today when it emerged an actress used in its latest advertising campaign is the girlfriend of England rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson.

Diana Stewart, 24, stars in a television commercial for the high street chain’s new &More credit card.

Her face also appears on the cover of application forms for the card and on the Marks & Spencer website.

But news of her romantic connection to 24-year-old Wilkinson came as a surprise to bosses at M&S.

“We have only just found out ourselves,” said a spokeswoman for the company.

“There are no other plans to use her in advertising for us but we would like to work with her again.”
