Elderly farmer given chance to avoid jail

An elderly Clare woman who was remanded into custody after she refused an order to remove all animals from her farm, will get the chance later today to avoid returning to jail.

An elderly Clare woman who was remanded into custody after she refused an order to remove all animals from her farm, will get the chance later today to avoid returning to jail.

Marie O’Sullivan from Clonlara was convicted last month of eight offences, including cruelty to animals.

She was ordered to be taken into custody by Limerick district court after she rejected the demand to depopulate her farm.
