A Garda investigation is continuing into the death of a man whose body was found at a Co Wicklow beauty spot on Saturday.

The dead man, 31-year-old Yohan Verhoeven from Ballybrack, who was known to the Gardaí, had been living in Bray when he disappeared in early July. Gardaí say they are following a number of lines of inquiry, but they are believed to be focusing on the deceased's involvement in the drugs trade.

It is understood that Mr Vehoeven sustained serious injuries to his head which may be as a result of a gunshot wound.

It is not yet known whether he was killed at the Sally Gap, where he was found, or whether his body was dumped there.

A large team of gardaí was drafted in to search the area for any forensic evidence which may have been left behind.

The road leading to the Sally Gap remains sealed off, and is not expected to re-open until later today at the earliest.

Gardaí are investigating the theory that he may have been killed in a dispute with drug dealers.
