A footballer is being investigated over an alleged assault at a popular nightclub in Dublin.
The alleged victim walked into a Garda station in Dublin city centre yesterday afternoon and made a complaint against the player.
The alleged incident took place at Buck Whaley’s nightclub on Leeson Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Gardaí have not yet spoken to the footballer, who is based in England.
The victim of the alleged attack suffered injuries to his face and mouth.
It is understood he was treated in hospital before making the complaint in person at Pearse Street Station.
Gardaí are expected to examine CCTV from the nightclub and staff as part of the investigation.
