The ISEQ index of Irish shares continued its downward spiral today, with 60.51 points, or 2.23% being knocked off its value for a finish of 2,650.21.
Banking stocks were very mixed - AIB dropped 10%, down 36c to €3.16, Irish Life & Permanent was also down, losing 95c to €2.15, Bank of Ireland was unchanged at €1.60 while Anglo Irish Bank was up 5c to €1.85.
The trend continued in other areas - Aer Lingues dropped 9c to €1.03, Kingspan was down 15c to €4.30, and Glanbia and Smurfit each lost 22c per share, down to €2.55 and €1.18 respectively.
