Ollie Magern will undergo a thorough veterinary examination this week ahead of a possible run in the Stan James King George VI Chase on Boxing Day.

The Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained nine-year-old made all to win the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on his seasonal reappearance before disappointing behind Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase at Haydock.

Ollie Magern was subsequently given a break and Twiston-Davies reports him to be in good heart.

He said: “Ollie has come back really well and will be given a physical once-over involving several tests this week.

“We’ll get the results back before Thursday when I’ll have a consultation with his owner. As things stand we will leave him in at Kempton and are very keen to run,” he told the Racing Post.
