Fianna Fail and the Progressive Democrats have reached a draft agreement on the formation of a coalition Government following four days of talks in Dublin.

Representatives of the two parties reached the deal today and it is now expected to be handed to party leaders Bertie Ahern and Mary Harney for approval.

The negotiators might then be sent back for further talks to finalise the plan. The development this afternoon means Fianna Fail and the PDs are almost certain to form the next Government.
