More than 1,000 motorists have received penalty points for not wearing a seat-belt, according to figures released today by Transport Minister Seamus Brennan.

More than 1,000 motorists have received penalty points for not wearing a seat-belt, according to figures released today by Transport Minister Seamus Brennan.

The minister said 1,128 people have received endorsements on their licenses for failing to wear seat-belts since the offence was included in the penalty points scheme in August.

He said a further 81 notices had also been issued to motorists found to be carrying passengers aged under 17 who were not wearing seat-belts.
