Age restrictions for elderly removed at car hire firm

The Equality Authority is welcoming a recent settlement which involved the removal of age restrictions for older people hiring a car at one particular firm.

The Equality Authority is welcoming a recent settlement which involved the removal of age restrictions for older people hiring a car at one particular firm.

Irish Car Rentals Ltd no longer excludes those over 75 from hiring a car and has also eliminated an age surcharge to over 70s following talks with the authority.

The firm has now introduced an assessment procedure which takes account of a person's driving experience, insurance and health.
