Eleven PSNI officers have been injured during overnight disturbances on the New Lodge Road in north Belfast.

Four of the officers were hurt when a stolen car hit their Land Rover at around 7pm.

The other seven were wounded shortly after the crash when they came under attack from a crowd of up to 150 local people, some of whom threw debris from a skip at them.

A police woman was hit in the face by glass, while a male colleague was also hospitalised with stomach injuries.

The PSNI had to use CS spray in an effort to control the crowd.
