N4 reopens after accident

The N4 Dublin to Sligo Rd has now fully reopened between J11 Castlepollard and the Old Longford Rd jct following a serious crash this morning.

The N4 Dublin to Sligo Rd has now fully reopened between J11 Castlepollard and the Old Longford Rd junction following a serious crash this morning.

The incident happened at around 10am this morning when four cars and a lorry were in collision after the lorry lost control and skidded into the opposite lane.

The driver of the truck remains in Mullingar Hospital where he is said to be suffering from serious injuries.

The AA says that all diversions have been lifted and delays through Mullingar Town should now ease.
