Three businesses were told to close last month amid concerns over food safety, officials said today.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued the closure orders to Polonez supermarket in Athlone Shopping Centre (delicatessen and butcher area only); the Wok In take-away in Leixlip and the Burger Hut food stall in Knockcroghery, Roscommon

The FSAI also served improvement orders on the Roma take-away in the Palmerstown area of Dublin and the Bassetts at Woodstock restaurant in Inistioge, Co Kilkenny.
