In the North, a man has been arrested by police after an elderly pedestrian was knocked down and killed in Derry.

In the North, a man has been arrested by police after an elderly pedestrian was knocked down and killed in Derry.

The man in his seventies was hit by a car just after 7pm last night, while walking along the Culmore Road.

A 43-year-old man was arrested and questioned on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He has been released on bail.
