Portsmouth duo Lomana LuaLua and Linvoy Primus are seeking new long-term contracts at the Fratton park club.
Striker LuaLua, a transfer target for Tottenham last summer, still has a year left on his current Pompey deal.
Defender Primus, who almost joined Norwich on a free transfer in the winter, also has one year left on his deal.
But both think they deserve the security of longer agreements.
LuaLua missed the last five matches of the season with injured ankle ligaments but still finished leading scorer on seven goals.
He has already asked manager Harry Redknapp about a new deal and was told to be patient.
But he said: “Hopefully, something will be sorted out because I have only a year left on my contract and I have got to think about myself.
“I’m not saying I am going to move but you never know what is going to happen in football.
“Right now I’m concentrating on getting over this injury and coming back fitter next season because it is up to the club, but it is always nice to know where your future lies.”
LuaLua can talk to other clubs in January if he does not sign a new contract and his future is a major talking point among Pompey supporters who fear the talented 25-year-old will again be hunted by top clubs.
But they also want to see popular veteran defender Primus get his future sorted out.
The former Barnet and Reading defender played his part in the late run of good form that clinched Portsmouth’s Barclays Premiership survival and earned manager Redknapp the offer of a new three-year deal.
Primus played half the season with a torn groin muscle and tomorrow will have hernia surgery.
At roughly the same time his agent will have talks with Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie about the possibility of extending the player’s contract by another year.
Primus, 33, said: “I took tablets to get me through games ever since I injured myself against west Ham on Boxing Day but it just got worse and worse.
“It was worst against Sunderland last month but at no stage did I allow myself to think I wouldn’t play in any game.”
“I have been here six years now and I think the club is about to go up a level.
“I would really like to be part of that and I think people here know I will always give 100% but if that is not good enough then I will have to go.”
