Labour Party is today beginning the process of finding a new leader following Ruairi Quinn’s decision to step down from the position.

Nominations for his successor will open next week and a new leader is expected to be installed when Mr Quinn’s five-year term officially expires in October.

The biggest challenge to the Labour Party is to win back some of the support it lost to left-wing parties in the recent general election.

Mr Quinn has denied that Labour’s disappointing election performance led to his resignation.
