The Gaelic Players Association (GPA) have released a statement to confirm a meeting of the National Executive Committee of the players' body took place tonight, and that informal discussions with the GAA are ongoing.
"A meeting of the GPA’s National Executive Committee took place tonight to discuss the on-going situation concerning official recognition and government funding," the statement read.
"The GPA can confirm that informal discussions between the GPA and the GAA have taken place over the past few days and we will be outlining our position in relation to these meetings in due course.
It added: "The GPA will be making no further comment in the interim."
The GPA are seeking 5% of the GAA's commercial revenues or €50,000 per month to fund its activities.
The players' body appeared before an Oireachtas Committee last week at which it was revealed that the GPA receives €900,000 per annum in commercial funding.
The GAA has remained steadfast in its views that it cannot provide official recognition for the players' body if it continues to seek a percentage of the GAA's income.
All funding granted by the GAA to counties, clubs and other bodies representing handball, rounders, ladies' football and camogie is provided on the basis of a budget submission, in order to secure funds being sought.
