It is expected that Reg Empey will formally resign as leader of the Ulster Unionist Party next week.

It is expected that Reg Empey will formally resign as leader of the Ulster Unionist Party next week.

He indicated that we would step aside following the party's disappointing performance in the UK's General Election in May.

A selection meeting for a new party leader is due to be held in Belfast on September 24 and will be in place ahead of the party's conference in late October or early November.
