The head of the St Vincent's Healthcare Group has said they are looking at ways of improving the admissions process for patients with Cystic Fibrosis.

The head of the St Vincent's Healthcare Group has said they are looking at ways of improving the admissions process for patients with Cystic Fibrosis.

Five patients with CF were turned away from a dedicated unit at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin at the end of last month.

The Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland said just 27 beds were occupied in the unit at the time, despite a previous commitment that it would accommodate 34 patients.

Speaking at the Oireachtas Health Committee this morning, group chief executive and Director at St Vincent's Healthcare Group Nicholas Jermyn said they need to communicate better with patients - and improve the admissions process:
