Enda Kenny intends to be Taoiseach in 2021

The Taoiseach intends to lead the next Dáil and the one after.

Fine Gael Chief Whip Paul Kehoe said Enda Kenny will serve a full-term if re-elected and then contest the 2021 general election as leader of the party - "another five years and more."

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, he said while there are many in the party besides Leo Varadkar and Simon Coveney who aspire to be Taoiseach, Enda Kenny is going nowhere.

“There’s an awful lot of other people who aspire to be in the office of the Taoiseach,” he said.

“I would say there is even more than Simon and Leo that would aspire to be Taoiseach of this country.”

Deputy Kehoe also said he "absolutely" expects a vote transfer pact between Fine Gael and Labour in the upcoming general election, despite Labour party members publibly resisting the idea.
