Sporting Fingal 1 Shamrock Rovers 1

James Chambers earned Shamrock Rovers a point with a late penalty in a game ruined by the gale force wind at Morton Stadium.

Conan Byrne’s first goal of the season looked to have heaped further pressure on Shamrock Rovers’ boss Michael O’Neill.

Shaun Williams’ misplaced pass found Byrne who showed great feet to dribble past three defenders and shoot beyond Alan Mannus to give Sporting the lead on 78 minutes.

But Rovers hit back on 87 minutes. Chambers' initial free-kick was handled in the wall by Gary O’Neill and Chambers blasted home the spot kick off a post.
