The Scottish Football Association tonight decided Partick Thistle have no grounds of appeal against the Scottish Premier League’s decision to allow Inverness Caledonian Thistle promotion.
The Firhill side took their case to the SFA after a second vote of the top flights 12 clubs ruled a 10-2 majority in favour of Inverness’ plans to ground share with Aberdeen next season.
Tonight’s decision by the Appeal’s Committee, chaired by Lord McLean, means Partick Thistle now look certain to play in the Bell’s First Division when the new campaign gets under way.
SFA Chief Executive David Taylor said: “With respect to the appeal lodged by Partick Thistle FC against a resolution of the SPL to approve the admission of Inverness Caledonian Thistle to the SPL, the SFA tonight heard more than three and a half hours of legal submissions.
“The Appeal’s Committee, under the chairmanship of Lord McLean and involving SFA members Hugh Campbell-Adamson and Andrew McClymont, has decided that Partick Thistle have no grounds of appeal in terms of their submissions under Article 1331 of the SFA Constitution.
“The appeal therefore falls.”
