Saturdays in July account for the most accidents in public places which result in personal injury claims.
The Injuries Board made more than 2,100 public liability awards last year, worth €53m, that is up from €44m in 2013.
Women accounted for seven in 10 claims - and slips, trips and falls were the most common accidents.
Stephen Watkins of the Injuries Board says most happen during the summer.
He said: "Last year the Injuries Board made 2,151 public liability compensation awards, totalling €53m.
"And when we went through those cases, we found that public liability accidents are more likely to arise in the summer months, with a peak in July.
"When we looked at the actual day that they are most likely to occur in, Saturday is the most common day."
