The Competition Authority is due to make a series of proposals for reforming the legal profession in a report due out today.

The document is expected to make a number of recommendations aimed at opening up the profession to more competition.

In a preliminary report last year, the authority said the legal profession suffered from unjustified and disproportionate restrictions on competition.

The report's 40 recommendations included the establishment of an ombudsman for the profession, which the Government is currently working on.
