Made-for-TV stars Gareth Gates, David Sneddon and Girls Aloud will battle it out to discover who is top of the pops among Britain’s teeny music fans, it was revealed today.
Popstars: The Rivals champions Girls Aloud are going head-to-head with Busted for the Best Newcomer crown in the Disney Channel Kids Awards 2003.
Among the other nominees, announced today, are Christina Aguilera, Kelly Rowland, Avril Lavigne, Kym Marsh and Ms Dynamite, up for Best Female.
Best Male nominees are the favourite Justin Timberlake, Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates and Fame Academy winner David Sneddon.
Kids will also be asked to vote for their Best TV Moment, with Major Charles Ingram’s bungled attempt to cheat on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? among the nominees.
Other choices are David Brent’s disco dance in The Office, Rachel and Joey’s kiss in Friends, and the tuneless, nul-points performance of British Eurovision entry Jemini.
The winners will be announced at a packed Royal Albert Hall on Saturday September 20, and the ceremony will feature performances from some of Britain’s best-known pop stars.
