Body remains formally identified as Tommy Thompson

The human remains found at Dysart, Portlaoise on the January 23, 2008 have today been formally identified as those of Tommy Thompson.

The human remains found at Dysart, Portlaoise on the January 23, 2008 have today been formally identified as those of Tommy Thompson.

His disappearance on April 20, 2007 was being investigated by gardaí.

Mr Thompson, a British national, but with an address at Borris Road, Portlaoise was buried in a shallow grave in a forest in Dysart.

His body was flown back to England two weeks ago, after his family had visited the site where he was found.

Gardaí say the cause of death is not being released and they are still anxious to find Mr Thompson's blue Renault van.
