The Irish aid agency Trócaire has questioned the EU’s commitment to conflict prevention.

The agency’s development review for 2004 said commitment was being hindered by the security-led response to the threat of global terrorism.

Speaking at the launch of the review in Dublin today, Trócaire spokesman Justin Kilcullen expressed concern that the so-called “war against terrorism” was hindering efforts to tackle global poverty.
