MMR vaccinations 25% below national target

Although the uptake on immunisation jabs has risen, the number of parents giving the controversial MMR vaccine to their children is still a quarter below the national target, according to the Royal College of Physicians.

Although the uptake on immunisation jabs has risen, the number of parents giving the controversial MMR vaccine to their children is still a quarter below the national target, according to the Royal College of Physicians.

Many parents have been put off by some studies that have shown a possible link between the jab and autism but the immunisation committee here says there is nothing to worry about.

The College announced changes today to the ages at which various immunisations are given to children. The MMR is now recommended between 12-15 months of age with a tetanus booster given between the ages of 12 and 14 rather than at school leaving age.

Immunisation against Meningitis C is now recommended at two, four and six months as part of the primary immunisation schedule.
