A 20-year-old man is expected to be charged before a sitting of Midleton District Court within an hour in connection with the killing of Robert Holohan.

Earlier today gardaí had extended the man's detention period by six hours.

Gardaí had earlier sealed off a house near Midleton as part of their investigation into the death of schoolboy Robert Holohan.

The house, which is located a number of miles from the youngster’s home in Ballyedmond, is being examined for forensic evidence.

Last night, the 20-year-old man was arrested in Midleton in connection with the death of the schoolboy, whose body was found in undergrowth near Inch Strand last Wednesday.

He had been missing since disappearing eight days previously after leaving his home on the bicycle he received as a Christmas present.
