Security confiscates child's toy minion gun at Dublin Airport
A toy Minion gun has been seized from a three-year-old child at Dublin Airport.
Security personel confiscated the fart gun, which emits a banana-like smell when fired, but assured the little boy they would mind it until he came back from holidays.
Dublin Airport Authority says no replica guns of any kind are allowed on flights.
The boy's mother Daire Fitzpatrick said that staff were apologetic, but the toy was a present for her son.
She said: "So his grandad surprised him with a trip to the toy shop yesterday where he picked out this fart gun that he has been besotted with since.
"I understand on the screen it might look like a gun because of the outline, but surely when he comes over, he'll take it out and he'll realise when it looks like a megaphone and it'll be fine.
"He was trying to give me the reasons, but at the same time it sounded so ridiculous to himself, so he was very apologetic."
Spokesperson for Dublin Airport, Siobhan Moore, said it is one rule they have to be strict about.
She said: "Unfortunately any toy guns or replica guns are a prohibited item going through the security screening area.
"This is on a prohibited items list which is listed on the website. We don't actually set the rules but we must go by the rules.
"The rules are set at national and EU level."
