A rescue operation is underway in Connemara after a woman got into difficulty in the Maamturk mountains.

A rescue operation is underway in Connemara after a woman got into difficulty in the Maamturk mountains.

The 61-year-old is stranded on Corcog Mountain having sustained injuries this morning.

The alarm was raised early this morning, and the Galway Mountain Rescue Team has been dispatched.

The Shannon-based coastguard helicopter is also on standby at Galway Airport.
