Jamie Spencer is planning to appeal against the four-day ban which would rule him out of the Vodafone Oaks and Coronation Cup.
The Newmarket stewards suspended Spencer after finding him guilty of careless riding on Sir Michael Stoute’s Dubai Venture in the hospitality@sportsdays.co.uk Maiden Stakes on Friday.
Spencer is due to be out of action on May 31 and June 1 to 3, which would mean he would have to sit out the first day of the Vodafone Derby meeting.
His agent Chris McGrath today said: “He will be appealing but he hasn’t formally lodged it yet. He has until close of play today (at the Jockey Club) but he plans to go ahead and appeal.”
Spencer is currently leading the Flat jockeys’ championship with 33 winners.
