ISME calls for 30,000 public-sector job cuts

The organisation representing small and medium businesses in Ireland has called for 30,000 job cuts in the public sector.

The organisation representing small and medium businesses in Ireland has called for 30,000 job cuts in the public sector.

ISME claims there has been a 118% increase in public sector pay and pensions in the last eight years.

The group is warning that unless the Government undertakes serious reform in the public sector, the tax measures announced in the Budget will do nothing to address current economic difficulties.
