A mother and a 15 month-old baby were rescued from a blazing flat in a Northern seaside town early today.
The blaze occurred at Lisnabreen Walk in Bangor, Co Down, around 1am.
Local fire crews rushed to the scene of the blaze after receiving a call from the woman and baby trapped inside the first-floor flat.
Fire Service staff remained in contact with the woman, reassuring her to stay put until the crews arrived.
On arrival, the crews found the flat was full of smoke and used a ladder to carry the baby out.
The mother and two men from other flats were led to safety.
Meanwhile, in Belfast, eight people were rescued from a fire in a block of flats in the south of the city.
The blaze at Tollgate House in Bradbury Place was noticed at around 5am.
It is believed to have started accidentally in a second-floor apartment.
