Britain's Ministry of Defence is to seek official pardons for 26 Irishmen executed for cowardice and desertion while serving during the First World War.
The 26 are among more than 300 British soldiers who faced the firing squad for the offences.
Their families have been campaigning for some time for an official pardon, saying many of the soldiers were suffering from shellshock and mental problems due to the horrors they were experiencing.
Britain's Defence Secretary says he will be asking parliament to approve pardons for all the men involved.
