Dando murder trial adjourned

The man accused of murdering TV presenter Jill Dando appeared at the Old Bailey today for a short preliminary hearing which was held without press and public being allowed into court.

The man accused of murdering TV presenter Jill Dando appeared at the Old Bailey today for a short preliminary hearing which was held without press and public being allowed into court.

After 40 minutes the case was adjourned until noon tomorrow.

Barry George, 41, from Fulham, west London, has denied murdering 37-year-old Miss Dando, who was shot dead on the doorstep of her home in Fulham on April 26, 1999.

Prosecuting in the case is senior Treasury counsel Orlando Pownall. Michael Mansfield QC is defending George.

Mr Justice Gage is the presiding judge. The trial is expected to last up to six weeks.
