Community workers encourage young people to get on electoral register

The under 24s have been urged to get on the electoral register before the deadline expires, by youth workers.

Next Saturday, November 25th is the cut off date for joining the official list of voters who will decide the outcome of the next election.

An estimated 30% of young people never cast a ballot because they're not on the register

Youth groups, such the Ballybough Youth Project from North Dublin, were keen to stress the relevance of politics to the lives of young people. Earlier in the week, Minister for the Environment Dick Roche said he would not allow the electorate more time to be registered to vote, stating the November deadline was final.
