Man charged with Gowing murder due back in court

A man will appear in court in Wales today to enter his plea after being charged with the murder of vet Catherine Gowing.

Ms Gowing, 37, who was originally from Co Offaly, was reported missing on October 15 last year, when she failed to arrive at work at the Evans Veterinary Practice in Mold, north Wales.

The last confirmed sighting was at a supermarket in nearby Queensferry the previous Friday.

Her disappearance sparked the largest ever search operation ever mounted by North Wales Police.

Human remains, later confirmed to be those of Ms Gowing, were found in a shallow pool in a field in Sealand, Deeside, more than two weeks later.

Further confirmed remains were discovered two days later, but police say the search will continue.

Clive Sharp, 46, of no fixed address, will appear before Mold Crown Court in Wales later today when he is due to enter his plea to the charge of murder.
