Relatives of former Leas Cross patients are to make a formal complaint about the Health Service Executive to the Minister for Health Mary Harney today.

The families are submitting a letter to Minister Harney, which claims the HSE ignored their concerns about abuses at the home for a number of years.

They have claimed that senior officials knew patients were being mistreated before a documentary exposed the scandal.

The group now wants Minister Harney to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for what happened.
