Unions representing psychiatric nurses are due to meet the HSE for more talks today in an effort to resolve a dispute over compensation for nurses who are attacked at work.

Unions representing psychiatric nurses are due to meet the HSE for more talks today in an effort to resolve a dispute over compensation for nurses who are attacked at work.

On Friday, the two sides agreed a roadmap for negotiating a deal on the issue during discussions at the Labour Relations Commission.

SIPTU and the Psychiatric Nurses Association have decided to continue with their overtime ban despite the agreement, but have abandoned plans to escalate the action this week.

The ban has led to ward closures at mental health facilities across the country, but the unions say it will continue until a final deal is agreed.
