Mayo TD Beverly Cooper-Flynn has told the High Court that she was very surprised that RTE continued to stand over allegations that she encouraged a Co Meath farmer to evade tax.

On her second day in the witness box, she said she had issued a series of statements after the report which made claims in relation to her former position as a National Irish Bank official.

She said after it was broadcast, she was confident there would be a retraction.

She added that she was "the talk of Mayo" immediately afterward. "People were staring at me, I was very conscious of that," she said.
