Gardaí were questioning a 25-year-old man tonight after they found cocaine worth €70,000 in a car they had stopped in north Co Dublin.

Officers pulled the vehicle over in the Santry area at around 3pm this afternoon and found around one kilo of the drug.

The man who was alone in the car at the time was arrested under section two of the Drug Trafficking Act and taken to Santry Garda Station where he can be held for up to seven days.

The seizure is the second major drugs haul in the north of the city in two days, but gardaí said the finds are not linked.

Around 30 kilos of the drug worth around €2.5m was discovered in an apartment in Glasnevin yesterday evening following a raid by drugs squad officers.
