Over one hundred people will protest at the treatment of animals in circuses today.

The Animal Right's Action Network has said Ireland is behind other EU countries when it comes to laws to prevent the suffering of animals touring here.

The activists, who are holding a rally outside the GPO on Dublin's O'Connell Street this afternoon, are urging the incoming Government to act on progressive legislation.
