Shortall: Reilly has still not explained primary care controversy
The former Junior Health Minister Roisin Shortall has said Dr James Reilly still has not given a satisfactory explanation for the primary care centre controversy.
Ms Shortall resigned at the end of September following a row with the Health Minister over what criteria were used to select an extra 15 sites for primary care centres.
Deputy Shortall, who also resigned the Labour Party whip, said the party needs to take action now ahead of December's Budget, before they pay a very heavy price for decisions made by the Government.
She also said she stands by her opinions on Minister Reilly.
She said: "I don't like saying 'I told you so', but my opinion has not changed in relation to the primary care centre issue.
"Now, some months later, we still haven't had any kind of acceptable explanation of why Mr O'Reilly added 15 locations, there is no basis for doing that, including two locations in his own constituency."
