Irish YouTuber receives sweet surprise after acid attack on car

YouTuber and gay rights campaigner Riyadh Khalaf's car was damaged by acid over the weekend.

The Dublin-based YouTuber and radio presenter was also a prominent campaigner during the Marriage Equality campaign, apear and it seems like his activism came with a price.

Over the weekend, Riyadh posted photos to his Facebook page showing damage done to both his and his parents' cars. Someone had thrown acid on them at some point during the night and Riyadh writes that "the only reason for this can be down to our recent work for equality and how public it was".

He goes on to say that while it was hurtful to see the damage done to his car (given to him by his late gran), he still believes that "Ireland is a more loving and inclusive place".

And evidence of that came through his letterbox just today.

This morning, an anonymous person posted a bar of chocolate through Riyadh's letterbox with a very sweet note.

Riyadh shared a photo of the note and gift on Instagram, writing:

"Faith in humanity restored. Someone saw my damaged car and left this on my windshield. I teared up a little. Thank you whoever you are!"
